Privacy Policy

Trualo (trualo.com) is run by Design My Website, Ireland. Questions about this policy go to tommy@designmywebsite.ie.
What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account. We use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used, but only with your consent. Until you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics is switched off for you: it sets no cookies and does not store analytics data on your device.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as the pages you view, how you reached the site, your device and browser, and your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store). We use this only to understand which pages are useful and to fix problems. The data is processed by Google, which may transfer it outside the EU under its own terms.
If you decline, nothing is collected for analytics. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify you.
What stays in your browser
The home and topic pages remember when you last visited, so they can show how many new items appeared since then. Your cookie choice is also remembered. Both are stored only in your browser (local storage) and are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Third parties
- Map tiles. The map loads tiles and fonts from OpenFreeMap, which will see your IP address when a map is shown.
- Videos. Some items include a YouTube video. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you click play. When you do, YouTube receives your IP address and its own privacy policy applies. We use the privacy-enhanced embed.
- Links. Every item links to its original source. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Emails
If you email us a correction or question, we use your address only to reply, and keep the message for as long as it is needed to deal with it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). Email us to make a request.
